It took place in Arras, in the north of France. I love Arras, I think that if I never go live in Ireland or England in the future, I'll be living there. Everything is so beautiful, and even if I haven't been there a lot, every time I go I feel good. So yeah, after catching our train, we walked to the eagerly-awaited place: Main Square Festival. Some tips if you're going to a festival like this one: hide a cork somewhere because they take them off of your bottles, and because drinks are quite expensive there, that is what I did. It was really secured to it made me feel less anxious. And, let me tell you, I won't ever regret trying this. Trying new things may actually be pretty good. The sun was so bright, it felt so summery for once, after few weeks full of rain and clouds. We got our gorgeous main square bracelet pass things, our old dirty shoes on, ready to have fun.
We've spent the whole afternoon listening to new musics from bands I've never heard of before, for example: Bear's Den. If you love Ed sheeran's songs, with a bit of a folk vibe for bonus, you will LOVE them. There also were a bit more interesting bands that for sure I will never listen to again, they were just not my style to be honest. Mass Hysteria was definitely not my thing, it's too violent for me, even though the singer was quite funny.
Can you believe this was my first time eating nachos with cheddar? Yes, I know, shame on me. It was so good I'm so sad I haven't tried this before. Anyways. What I loved the most, is that everyone is feeling great. I mean, I was overprotecting my bagpack, my phone, everything, because I just thought someone was always going to try to steal things. But as my boyfriend said, no one's in the mood to steal or to fight anyone. People were just happy, dancing and singing, eating pizzas (which is my favourite hobby let's be honest). No one cared about what people thought about their look, their hair or anything. There were people with very different style and personalities, I thought it was an incredible way of living. I wish everyone was thinking that way, everyday of the year and forever. And then, I started to have real fun. Eating a pizza while Marina Kaye (which is a french singer, go check her songs out) was singing is seriously the best thing ever.
And then came the moment I've been waiting for months : Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. If you don't know, Macklemore is one of my favourite artists. I love what he and Ryan Lewis try to say throughout their songs, I love Macklemore as a performer, I love the vibe they give. And let me tell you, I've never seen so much people dancing together than when Macklemore was on stage. My feet and throat still hurt, because of how happy I was, singing and dancing. He said he loved France and that it may be his favourite place to perform, which obiously made everyone really happy. My favourite moment was when he took a second to pay homage to all the victims, from Paris, Buxelles and Orlando, just before singing Same Love (which is my fav). I admit, I almost cried, because that touched my heart so much.
So, at the end of the night, I felt good. Because, for once, I tried something I was scared of, and it made me the happiest. I hope you all can do the same in the future.
All the Love,
Mo.
